May 25th – National Wine Day

Did you know that Michigan is in the top 10 of wine producing states in the country?  With over 150 wineries, and thousands of acres of land dedicated to growing grapes, Michigan produces award wining reds and whites, sparkling wines, and even the unique ice wines.  The state’s geographic location within the 45th parallel, along with the climate influenced by the Great Lakes, and especially Lake Michigan make it ideal for grape production.  Michigan also produces a variety of fruit wine – apple, cherry, and peach are just a few.
